December 18th, 2017 was the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Monday was the day that I started as a full-time freelancer utilizing Codeable.io as where I will generate my main source of income.
Being anxious and excited at the same time is exhilarating to me for the fact that I can control my ( and my family’s ) own destiny.
Having been with Codeable for five years now, and only working during the nighttime hours, I have found great #sidehustle success. With the support from my wonderful wife and children, along with the experience of being a veteran WordPress and WooCommerce certified expert with Codeable, I was able to hit the ground running.
There are strategies and goals that need to be set on a daily basis, and once ironed out, will be able to advance my life ( and my family ) forward without being capped ( no room to earn financial in a corporate position ). All the while with the corporate position ( last umpteen years or so ), I viewed it as FUNdraising and simply did not have the passion needed for the position, but it provided a source of income and great benefits ( health, 401k, office, etc.).
Now, it is time to grind, put in the work that I know I can, and develop things that I am passionate about 🙂
However, I do have some initial queries that maybe you all might help me out with:
1: who is your go to accountant for freelancers?
2: what about health insurance, where do you go for that?
3: how do you account for costs associated with the freelancing world? mobile, transportation, etc…
4: what about vacation? ever heard of that? how do you best plan for that?
5: any good books I should read?
6: any great beginners tips you can share with me?
So, here goes, and if you have anyone in need of web development, please do send them my way 🙂
