The time has come again, where you sit and sort out another set of resolutions. These goals are usually forgotten by mid-February. What can we all do to ensure these goals sticking and actually happening?
Having a vision of what your goals will look like when you accomplish them is step one. Dream Big! Imagine your big dreams are comprised of bits and pieces, like a pizza. Eventually, when you put all the pieces together, you get a remarkable whole pizza. If you are waiting for someone else, or something else to put the pizza slices together for you, you will wait too long. You have to be the one who picks up the pieces and places them nicely together to make the change to their overall appearance. You have to be the one who decides to do it. It is your obligation and responsibility, not someone else. Take the bull by the horns and make something happen, then look at the clock and realize what time it is: Go Time!
Winners set goals. Forward motion is driven by creating New Year Resolutions. Success will come from the activities which are inspired by the goals that you set. Blood, sweat and tears sometimes is the key to victory. Not always the best of times, but these times will take you that much closer to reaching your goals.
Success is the continuous forward movement toward a worthy goal – anonymous
Let’s take a look at a few steps that will help you reach your worthy goal:
-
Be Definitive.
You will have to define, exactly, what your goals are. Blurriness will cause you to feel bogged down, and you will just be stuck in a rut. -
Your Goals must be Quantifiable.
You can achieve your goals, but they must be quantifiable. For example, if you want to get new deals, you will need to know how many new deals you want to get, not just “new deals”. Don’t just write “spend more time with family“. How much time do you want to spend with your family every night? -
Do you own these goals?
Achievable goals are set by you and you alone. You will need to OWN up to your goals. That means do not let anyone set your goals for you (or anyone else for that matter)! -
Ask yourself, By When?
Create a target date that is realistic. For example, how many deals per month you want to accomplish. How much cash do you want to store in your mattress each month? -
Write them down!
The act of writing your goals down subconsciously helps you to achieve them. Your brain is now turned on to those specific objectives. You can easily call them back up and review them. Seeing is believing, believing is reality.
Purpose driven lives are realized by successful people. Successful people reassess their lives and then start living intentionally, in writing, on paper, on purpose, ON FIRE.
Resolve in 2010!
Great post Ray. And dont forget, writing them down is part of the battle, seeing them on a regular basis to hold you accountable is a major piece too.
